Terms of Service
Last updated: August 1, 2026
These terms govern your use of Motor City Food Safety website and services, operated by SMVE LLC (“we,” “us”). By reserving a seat, creating an account, purchasing a course, or otherwise using the site, you agree to them.
Our services
Motor City Food Safety provides instructor-led food safety training, ServSafe® Food Protection Manager examination proctoring, food handler training, and supplemental self-study courses. Instruction and proctoring are provided by a Certified ServSafe® Instructor and Registered ServSafe® Examination Proctor. Motor City Food Safety is an independent business and is not sponsored or endorsed by the National Restaurant Association.
Bookings and payment
Reserving a seat holds your place in a specific session. Payment is collected online through Stripe or at the session, as indicated during booking. Company accounts may be invoiced for their team’s bookings; invoices are due on the terms stated on the invoice. Cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds are handled per our Refund & Rescheduling Policy.
Exams and certification
Certification is issued through the National Restaurant Association’s program and is contingent on passing the examination — no outcome is guaranteed. Exam sessions require a valid, government-issued photo ID, and late arrival may forfeit your seat under exam administration rules. Exam conduct is governed by the examination provider’s security requirements; violations may result in invalidation of results without refund.
Online courses and materials
Purchasing a self-study course grants you a personal, non-transferable license to view the material for your own study. Course content may not be copied, shared, resold, or redistributed. Our courses are supplemental study materials created by Motor City Food Safety; they are not the official ServSafe® course, and completing them does not by itself grant certification.
Accounts and acceptable use
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for activity under your account. You agree not to misuse the site — including attempting to access other users’ data, disrupting the service, or using the site’s assistant features for unrelated or abusive purposes.
Disclaimers and liability
The site and its content are provided “as is.” Study materials and assistant answers are educational aids, not legal or regulatory advice — confirm compliance requirements with your local health department. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SMVE LLC’s total liability for any claim relating to the services is limited to the amount you paid for the service giving rise to the claim.
Trademarks
ServSafe® is a trademark of the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. National Restaurant Association® and the arc design are trademarks of the National Restaurant Association. All other marks are the property of their respective owners.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan. We may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the services after an update constitutes acceptance. Questions can be sent to the contact email in the footer below.
